Martin Agius is an acclaimed photojournalist and street photographer.

Born in Malta, in 1966, Martin took an early interest in photography with the only available medium at the time: analog film. However, it wasn’t until 2008 that he decided to take his photography to another level and enrolled in courses organized by local and foreign photographic societies.

That same year, Martin was appointed as the Official Photographer for the Armed Forces of Malta. Shortly after his retirement from the A.F.M., Martin’s career took a leap forward as freelance photographer and photojournalist for a leading newspaper owned by Media.Link Communications Co. Ltd.

Shortly thereafter, in 2010, he became the Official Photographer for ‘Gladiators Fight Nights’, photographing a diverse form of martial arts, a role he still enjoys to this day.

In 2012, Martin obtained an Associateship with the Malta Institute of Professional Photography (MIPP), and subsequently abroad with The Societies of Photographers in The United Kingdom (previously known as SWPP).  During that same year, he was also awarded The Societies prestigious UK Press & News Photographer of the Year Award.

Since 2015, Martin has been organizing Street Photography workshops.  He also lectures locally on Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Beginners Photography.

In 2016, he organized his first local solo exhibition called ‘Malta Street Life’ and has since been part of various other solo and collective exhibitions in Malta, Egypt, Greece, Italy, The United Kingdom and Japan.

In 2024 another dream came true for Martin with the publication of his first solo book called ‘Order in Chaos’, thanks to Progressive Publishing House, affiliated to the Progressive-Street photography group, of which he is an active and valued member.

A selection of photos which have either been published in local and foreign media, or have participated in international and national competitions, may be viewed on his website.
