My 2025 Photographic Journey: A Year in Review

As 2025 comes to a close, I can’t help but look back with gratitude and excitement at how the year unfolded — a year filled with photography, travel, exhibitions, publications, and new experiences behind the lens.

January – A Talk to Remember

The year began with a special moment: giving a talk to the Malta Photographic Society (MPS) about my Street Photography journey. Sharing my experiences, thoughts, and approach to the craft was both humbling and inspiring — a great way to start the year.

February – Capturing the Fight

February brought action and adrenaline with Gladiator Fight Nights 31. It was an evening of incredible fights, full of energy and emotion — a perfect challenge for both timing and technique. Around the same time, one of my photos was also published in the book Where The Streets Lead, a proud moment in my ongoing love affair with Street Photography.

March – Women, Strength, and Judging Moments

March was packed with creative opportunities. I was hired to photograph Valkyries Fight Night, an event that marked International Women’s Day — a powerful and meaningful occasion to document. I also had the honour of judging the MPS Monthly Competition for Mono Prints, an experience that reminded me how vibrant the local photography community continues to be.

April – European Championships in Malta

In April, I was commissioned to cover the ISKA AMA European Championships 2025, held in Malta for the first time. Being part of such an important international event, capturing intensity and discipline through my lens, was truly an honour.

May – Travelling and Writing

May turned out to be a beautiful month of exploration. I travelled to Edinburgh and visited Newcastle, Glasgow, and The Kelpies — experiences that deeply inspired me visually and personally.
That same month, I joined Progressive Street as part of their staff, contributing to their Portraits eBooks project. I also wrote an article about the Edinburgh May Day Parade, which was published on the Progressive Street website.

June – Teaching and Publishing

In June, I once again led the Beginners Photography Course at AZAD — something I always look forward to, as sharing knowledge is one of the most rewarding aspects of photography. Around this time, my article “The Fine Art of Everyday Life” was published in Klick Magazine Issue 5.

Summer – Interviews, Exhibitions, and More

The summer months were equally eventful. I was invited for another interview on the TV programme Meander, where I spoke about my Double Exposure exhibition of 2024 and my book Order in Chaos, published by Progressive Street.
I also took part in an exhibition organised by Progressive Street in Livorno, Italy — which was later turned into a beautifully printed book featuring all participating photographers.
Later, I published another piece titled “Edinburgh” on the Progressive Street site, reflecting on my trip through Scotland’s stunning cities.

Late 2025 – New Challenges and Milestones

My interview with SPG World was also published, featuring some of my images and reflections on Street Photography.

I also participated in the RottArti Exhibition organised by PN, showcasing three Double Exposure works. Around that time, another of my articles, “Brilli”, appeared in Klick Magazine Issue 6.

As a member of the Maritzburg Camera Club in South Africa, I was pleased to have three successes in their monthly competitions — a reminder of how photography connects us beyond borders.
Toward the end of the year, I gave another talk at the MPS, this time focusing on the latest Lightroom Classic updates and demonstrating how I approach black and white processing.

December – Closing the Year with Energy

I wrapped up the year with Gladiator Fight Nights 32, once again filled with energy, emotion, and unforgettable moments to capture.
And to close 2025 on a high note, my image “Reflections” made it to the top 30 in the Street Photography Gallery Competition and was selected for their upcoming exhibition.

Looking Ahead

2025 has been a year of growth, connection, and creativity — from the streets of Edinburgh to the arenas of Malta. Each project, publication, and collaboration has deepened my passion for storytelling through the lens.
I’m looking forward to what 2026 will bring — more streets to walk, more stories to tell, and more light to capture.
